James Harden was a big NBA All-Star snub in the 2022-23 NBA season. However, it was almost made right, as Harden was going to be added to the Eastern Conference side. Per Ramona Shelbourne of ESPN (H/T Bleacher Report), Harden missed out on the All-Star Game because the league wasn’t able to reach him.
Ten-time All-Star Harden was set to replace Kevin Durant. Harden was so mad that he wasn’t originally named to the All-Star roster that he wasn’t taking calls. The Toronto Raptor‘s Pascal Siakam was, instead, named as the KD replacement.
Harden averaged 21 points, 5.4 rebounds, 10.7 assists and 1.2 steals (via Basketball Reference) for the Philadelphia 76ers last season. Those are certainly All-Star worthy stats. Maybe former NBA MVP’s movement between teams played a role. Maybe he was judged by the Harden of old.
It would’ve been nice to see him take that call and show out. Harden is one dude you don’t want to cross. Just ask Daryl Morey.
