In an interview with Joy DeAngela, Dr. J left off LeBron James and Stephen Curry on his Top 10 NBA players of all time list.
Julius Erving’s top 10 NBA players of all time list, via @TheDunkCentral on Twitter (H/T Sports Illustrated).
- Jerry West
- Oscar Robertson
- Elgin Baylor
- Wilt Chamberlain
- Bill Russell
- Michael Jordan
- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
- Magic Johnson
- Karl Malone
- Tiny Archibald
Joy playfully pushed back, asking about Stephen Curry, and Dr. J noted Curry’s career was not yet done, so he shouldn’t be eligible. Dr. J’s reasoning makes sense, but Curry, and especially, LeBron’s top 10 all-time spots are secured. LeBron and Steph are firmly ahead of Jerry West, Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor, Karl Malone and Tiny Archibald.
LeBron James has four NBA Championships and four NBA MVPs. Stephen Curry also has four NBA Championships and two NBA MVPs. They’re in there right now.
If Dr. J was going old school with is list, he could’ve included himself. Erving won two ABA Championships and one NBA Championship. He collected three ABA MVP awards and one NBA MVP trophy, while averaging 24 points on 51% FG, 8.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists (curtesy of Basketball Reference).
Shout out to Joy DeAngela for the great interview.
