The Milwaukee BucksGiannis Antetokounmpo has one primary commitment – winning NBA championships. In an interview with The New York Times, Giannis said he would not commit to the Bucks unless they’re commitment to winning matches his.

“I would not be the best version of myself if I don’t know that everybody’s on the same page, everybody’s going for a championship, everybody’s going to sacrifice time away from their family like I do,” Antetokounmpo said. “And if I don’t feel that, I’m not signing.”

Giannis has a hunger for greatness, similar to that of the LeBrons, Jordans and Kobes. His resume already puts him amongst the best all time – an NBA title (Finals MVP), two NBA MVPs and an NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award – but he’s hungry for more.

It’s smart of Giannis to apply the pressure and alert the Milwaukee Bucks now that he won’t accept less than banners – the same way Kobe Bryant did the Lakers. Kobe ended up adding two titles to his resume as the best player on his team.

Per Spotrac, Giannis is currently on a five-year, $228 million contract. Giannis has a player option in the 2025-26 season and will be an unrestricted free agent in 2026. The Bucks have a little bit of time to show Giannis their commitment to excellence.
