Lavar Ball VladTV – Lavar Says Lonzo Was Lakers’ Leader Not LeBron
Lavar Ball recently did an interview with VladTV. He talked about son Lonzo Ball on the Los Angeles Lakers. In talking about the leadership, he said Lonzo was the Lakers’ leader over LeBron James:
“LeBron was the head guy you think was the leader, but Lonzo’s the leader. He gon make that thing go. But LeBron got the name…but if you got Lonzo playing the point guard, you just the head guy we’re trying to get the ball too…. But you ain’t the leader. You the face and you can talk cause you’re the longest in the league. But as far as putting everybody in their places…Lonzo, you’re the leader. You just can’t say you’re the leader.”
Lonzo is a traditional point guard and a floor general. Zo is no slouch. He was poised to help turn around the Chicago Bulls, before his injury. In many cases, you could call the PG the leader of the team. This is not one of them, with LeBron James on the squad.
LeBron, who’s fourth all time in assists, possesses all the elite intangibles of the greatest point guard in NBA history. Leadership, dictating pace of games, passing, calling plays, dictating spots, time management.
LeBron and Lonzo spent one season together (2018-19 NBA season) on the Lakers. Lonzo averaged 9.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 47 games. LeBron averaged 27.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.3 assists in 55 games that year.
Lonzo Ball isn’t leading LeBron James, especially in Year Two of his NBA career. Absolutely wild statement from Lavar Ball with this one, but you have to love how hard he goes for his sons.
